Fortnite Impostors is the newest game mode added to Fortnite. Fortnite is no stranger to limited-time modes, but this is one of the most in-depth and creative game types released yet. Succeeding in this Among Us-inspired game type requires advanced wit and strategy, so stick around if you’re looking for tips on how to win in Fortnite Impostors.
Fortnite Impostors: How To Play

Fortnite Impostors mode revolves around Doctor Sloane, Agent Jonesy, and the Imagined Order (IO). Agent Jonesy abandoned the IO to fulfil his destiny with the Zero Point. Doctor Sloane saw this as an act of betrayal, and she’s confident that Jonesy wasn’t working alone.
The premise of this mode is as follows: ten IO workers are gathered within the IO headquarters. Among the ten workers, eight are friendly Agents while the other two are devious Impostors. The eight Agents must work together to identify and vote out the Impostors while the Impostors goal is to eliminate all Agents.
Along the way, Agents will need to complete Assignments such as calibrating chests, delivering reports, and ordering lunch. While that’s going on, Impostors will be out causing mischief and eliminating unlucky Agents. When an eliminated player’s fragment is discovered by another player, a meeting will be called where all alive players are gathered together to discuss the situation. It’s here that you can speak with other players and vote out suspected Impostors.
The game ends when all Agents or all Impostors are eliminated - or when all Assignments have been completed by the Agents.
Now that you know the general gist of Fortnite Impostors, here are some basic tips for winning the new mode:
Fortnite Impostors: Use Quick Chat To Relay Crucial Information
There’s no public voice chat or text chat in the Fortnite Impostors mode, so one of the few ways players can communicate with their fellow IO co-workers is through the game mode’s built-in quick chat feature.
During meetings, players can use quick chat to state facts, ask questions, throw out accusations, and defend themselves from accusations. It’s possible to include details such as where an alleged incident occurred and what co-workers were around at the time. The more details, the better.
Get familiar with the quick chat feature and how to use it promptly and effectively. Oftentimes, the group will side with the first player to confidently speak up in quick chat. If you’re too slow to react, your fate could be sealed before you can even defend yourself.
Fortnite Impostors: Coordinate With Emotes

The other method of potential communication between players is via emotes. Fortnite Impostors mode grants players a bundle of free emotes to use in the mode. These range from head nods to claps to finger-pointing. Impostors can beckon an unsuspecting Agent to follow them to a dark corner, while Agents can point fingers at suspected Impostors.
Use these Fortnite Impostors emotes to relay information to the party either during a round or during a meeting. These actions serve as a perfect way to nonverbally communicate with those around you.
Fortnite Impostors: Remember Everyone’s Number

In Among Us, players track crewmates by their colour. In Fortnite Impostors mode, colours have been replaced by numbers. Each player is assigned a number one through ten. These numbers are how players can identify each other while walking about the base and during meetings.
Try to remember everyone’s number around you. Was an eliminated player’s fragment discovered on the other side of the base? Well, you were hanging out with numbers two and nine the whole round, so you can probably clear them as Impostors — for now at least.
Fortnite Impostors is a game about information. Players will need to use the identifying numbers to gather as much information as possible on their fellow co-workers and discover the imposters among them.
Fortnite Impostors: Learn The Map And Complete Assignments

Winning Fortnite Impostors as an Agent will require players to complete Assignments and learn their way around the base. Each room on the map has a different name. Players can enlarge the map with the Tab button on mouse and keyboard or up on the D-pad on controller. Doing so will highlight the names of each room and show where you are currently located in the base.
Assignments also show up on the map. Use the minimap in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen to navigate the base and complete Assignments. It’s possible to win the game as the Agents without identifying the Impostors if the collective group of you complete enough Assignments.
Learning the names of the locations on the map is a great tool for deciphering the happenings on the base. Was an eliminated fragment reported in Security? It just so happens that you saw player six recently exit Security. Now, you have a suspect.
Fortnite Impostors: How To Win As An Impostor

Find yourself assigned the role of Impostor? You’ll have some nifty tools at your disposal to outsmart and outmanoeuvre the Agents. Impostors can perform different Sabotage actions such as disabling Assignments, randomly teleporting players around the base, and even starting a Peely Party. Sabotaging will throw off the Agents and make it more difficult for them to narrow you down as an Impostor.
When a Peely Party is occurring, everyone’s dressed up as a banana and no one can tell who’s who. This is a perfect time to sneak in an elimination. Even if you are caught eliminating an Agent in plain sight, the other Agents won’t know who performed the kill until the Peely Party is over.
Impostors can use the other tips in this guide to their advantage as well. Use quick chat to accuse other players and cause mayhem. Throw out information that will get the Agents off of your tail.
Emotes are a great way to earn trust. Beckon another player to follow you and go perform a task. This will gain their trust and lessen the chances of you getting accused in a meeting.
Impostors will want to use the entire arsenal to eliminate the Agents one by one.
Fortnite Impostors: Compete Quests And Earn XP
Fortnite Impostors mode isn’t just for fun, it’s also a great way to level up the Battle Pass and earn Fortnite Battle Stars. There is a series of hidden quests that players can complete and earn XP for in Impostors mode. These quests include:
- Complete assignments as an Agent
- Play a Match
- Spend time playing in a Match
- Complete a Match
- Win a Match
- Perform Sabotages as an Impostor
- Eliminate Agents as an Impostor
Completing any of the above challenges throughout a match of Fortnite Impostors will award players with a set amount of XP.
